Totally non music related but just thought it be good to have a thread on this. How is everyone and how are they coping? Any changes? What’s you’re feeling about this pandemic?

Me personally, scared crapless. Over 100 deaths in UK, not enough testing, cases increasing massively. Schools shutting Friday. Most people already working from home. Panic at supermarkets and a lack of availability of certain goods due to selfish hoarders.

There’s talk schools won’t open until sept at the earliest and that this is gonna take possible a year get over. For over 70s to self isolate forn12 weeks. There’s also talk of an enforced lockdown from Friday.

I think the best policy is if everyone remain at home for min 14 days. If everyone in your country does that at the same time, then there will be a huge drop in cases and things will get under control.

Stay safe everyone. Music is my therapy.

It’s the same all over OT......

So far, so good though.... here’s hoping the panic stops and common sense comes back, and we all make it to the other side ok  :)

Same here in US, and with the added insult of partisan politics.  Which of course is just wrong.  The only way we all get through this is if we're unified.  Unfortunately I don't see a lot of that happening...

In this state, all schools, restaurants, bars and most other things closed now.  Grocery stores that are still open are selling food through windows.

They have found some people in different parts of the state infected.  And now they're talking about telling people they can't drive anywhere unless it's an emergency.  We'll see.

Sounds like it's going to be this way here for at least the rest of the year, maybe longer.  And like Jm said, politics in the country is making a mess of things with the virus.  Different politicians are talking about doing lots of different things.  But we'll see how that goes.

Just waiting now to see how things go in this area...

Seeing what it does to me, does to me.  When you gonna pop in my mind, Corona?

Ooh you make my body ache, my body ache, is it just a question of time, Corona?

Never gonna heal, what a deal, such a dirty shame.
Feeling like a curse, it's getting worse, and it's you I blame.

Al,

I agree it feels very worrying, but I think it's the speed of change that has blindsided us.  We have gone from complete freedom to scarcity and near curfew in the space of a week.

Realistically, the hoarders will have their supplies built up and things will calm down in the shops over the next week or two.  We just need to keep sensible.

All of the reports suggest that most of us will get the virus but have no complications, so we should be optimistic but vigilant and not take risks.

The biggest risk is coping with it in the healthcare systems we have, not the disease iteslf from what I can tell, which is the reason for lockdowns, isolation etc.

What it does point to, for me, is a change in the way we live in future.

It might open the way for more homeworking, video meetings, less globalised supply chains etc which would all be positive.  It may also mean that the healthcare and social services become valued more than the non essential roles in society (in terms of pay and conditions) in future, which has to be realistic.

At some point, something will come along that will get us all, and it's a toss up between a cataclysmic world event like a meteor, a world war or a pandemic, but it feels like this particular one is likely to be short-lived.

I certainly hope so, as I feel I'd like to do a bit more before cashing in my chips!  ;D

it's times like these that I am glad that I live in a relatively low population at the end of the world...
I have set up VPN and remote desktop but I am still going in to work, although I cycle in so I am not using public transport.
We have most of the building either working from home or just sent home, so unlikely to catch it there.
My son is still going to school, that is the main thing that worries me, but I also like that we have been able to keep to our routines.
Stay safe you all and keep dropping in here to vent.
