With a decent FTP program (I use "Core FTP") it's kind of easy to check and see if any files on the site have been updated that shouldn't have been just by checking the file dates...

Ag, I did find one of the forum files that had a modification date of just a few months ago, which it shouldn't have.  So I checked and it had a hack line in it.  I took that out, and just waited to see if it helped at all...

That would be nice, Ag.  Better than our 3 more feet in the last 2 days and 40-45 mph winds to drift and bank.  Big drifts and half frozen.  Lucky I hired a plow guy this year (last fall)...

As time goes by, and life goes on...
« on: December 17, 2019, 08:27:38 PM »
Just got the notice for the next TTM renewal in a couple weeks, and it reminded me that in a couple weeks TTM will be 15 years old.  As usual, it made me go back and check out the last 15 years of songs and other fun we've had here.  Amazing how many great and cool songs have been done here over the years.  And how much fun we've had.

Funny how it all makes me think about the fact that sometime soon I'll never get to hear, play, write, or collab on a song ever again.  So not only do I enjoy checking out all the past fun we've had here, but it makes me very_very sad knowing it will all soon be over.  And I have to wonder how long the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids will listen to all of this, because I have it all saved to flash drives and CDs for them to have when I'm gone.

And it's not just the great times I've enjoyed here, but every time I walk around the house or I'm out driving around the area, I think of all the good times I've had over the decades that I'll never have again.  Places I've been, things I've seen and done, and that some day people in the area won't even know I was here.  And what will this area be like in 50 or 100 years.

I have to say that when that time comes, I know I'll never have to worry or be concerned about anything ever again, which is cool, but I do so regret knowing that at that point I'll never again get to do all the great things and see all the great people that I've known in life.  And I'll probably never get to see or meet the great_great grandkids.  But maybe they'll hear some of our songs.

Unbelievable how sad this regret can make one feel every time I listen to a song, see things around the area, see friends, see loved ones, or just think about it all.

As always, this is not meant to make anyone feel bad, I just hope it will entice younger people to enjoy life, friends, and loved ones while they can.

Hey JOOM. Sorry to hear you’re not in a great place right now. Try and think of the happy times, the good people and friends you’ve met and had over the years, the fun and misadventures of youth, the love and cherished memories of time spent with family.

The music and memories will live on, there is no doubt of that. Thank you for all your hard work building and maintaining this wonderful forum over the years. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being a small part of it.

Thank you, One.  I do spend a lot of time thinking of all those things, and try to spend time with family and friends as much as possible.  And I try to do at least a few of the things (that I can still do) that I always enjoyed.

One thing I wish was possible is to go back to preschool knowing everything I've learned over the decades, and start over again.

Of course there is always a little work involved with website forum stuff, but I never think of that when it comes to TTM.  The time I've spent here, and the people I've come to know here, have been a huge plus in life this past 15 years.  It's just one of the things I will regret leaving at some point.

I also tend to dwell on the sadness of the future but I just wanted to share that the people on this site have helped me with songwriting more than I can say and for that, I'm tremendously grateful.

You already have, Ag, multiple times.  Just like everybody else here has over the years.   (!:)

As I mentioned in the first post, I have lots of the songs done by the great people here (and me) already set up for the family to see and play when I'm gone.

And of course, over the past few years, I've done a few just for the memorial.

It's like the heading for this post came while I was listening to a few of those again.

www.twotrackmusic.com/Joom/As_Time_Goes_By.mp3

But like I also said in the first post, as much as I regret leaving family and friends, I'll be free of all the junk stuff.

And now I can feel like some of you have been to my memorial...  :P
