Wodini music
« on: July 11, 2019, 03:19:59 AM »
Turned up a disc today I haven't played in a while.  Back when we were Kristal, (KAE) I had made a CD of 15 tracks that Dino had done, that completely blew me away.  Making dinner tonight I had it playing, and I have to say it definitely withstood the test of time.  I'll be listening to the whole setlist tomorrow.  Wife was equally amazed at the quality and content of them all too.  I'll make a list tomorrow of the tracks.  I've always heard a sort of combination of Steely Dan and David Crosby in his work.  Which is a pretty incredible thing to achieve.  Anyway, just wanted to say that his music still sounds awesome, and that he's kicked my butt into getting going again and playing.  Not expecting the same results, tho...

Thanks for it all, Dennis!

Hey thanks JM.

Funny thing is i was just listening to some old tracks/projects just two nights ago stored on my external drive.  It seemed so easy back then.  I guess i had a really productive 2 or 3 years in the mid to late 00's.  Kristal was my favourite DAW back then and still is.  I still have it on my current system and still use it...along with others I have tried.

I think I wrote a song for you back in the days when your wife was taken to hospital.  I must look that up.  Hmmm

Thanks JM.

It wasn't just me that had a Dino CD then!!

Seriously mate, you've made some cracking tunes over the years.

I do still have Kristal on my system as well, but that was mainly for the reverb plug which came with Kristal which I think has a cracking sound to it.  I appreciate the simplicity of Kristal, but I have to say the additional features of the newer DAWs I have make it difficult to go back.

That said, I think I'll have to put a little project together on Kristal and see how it sounds.  Just for old time's sake!

After Audacity (my first venture into digital audio engineering), I stumbled upon Kristal and the great guys on the forum. I loved Kristal and found it very productive. I just had some timing issue from time to time lining up track parts (don’t get that on GarageBand). But with 10 years ahem expertise, I really should go back and remaster/sort out those songs which enquire it.

I also love a bit of Dino. Quality musician and always delivered high quality songs (both in terms of actual music as well as the recording/mastering side).

I miss the Dino and also Combobob challenge entries we use to get. Those fellas really set the bar.

Where can we hear these songs? Can you put that cd up for digital download? Maybe on here for us only?
And thanks Al for the kind words. Maybe it's time I came up with something for a challenge again.

Sure, I would be happy to do that, providing that Dennis is OK with it too, of course.

If so, I'd have to figure it out a bit.  I had great computer skills in the 80s and 90s, but age takes it toll and there's a bit I'd have to refresh on.  I have a CD of these from then, that I'm assuming are mp3s, they must be, given the era.  I checked my old iTunes folders from where i thought I had burned it, but couldn't find it there.  But...with the CD I'm sure I could make a new file of the mp3s or something.  Any suggestions welcome, as long as D is fine with it too.

It IS some real great music and should be heard.  There may be some here who didn't hear them originally, and it would really be a treat for them also.

JM, there are a ton of ways to rip CD songs to MP3, including using Windows media player (which I don't like), but a really easy and free software for it is here:
