Korg M1 factory sound reloaded
« on: December 18, 2018, 05:42:26 PM »
Owned an original M1 but drank it away back in the day . Just bought a pristine one for £80 but without any internal sounds. Tried with a cheapo midi usb cable various programs eg Midiox etc to no avail. Found my Uno M Audio usb midi cable !!! Aha I thought , let’s try this with Midiox, not working. I then tried it with the Microsoft sysex app on windows 10. Previously this had not worked with the cheapo cable either. Bing bam boom and that’s the game.... these are the settings I used.
Make sure you’re in Global mode
Go through the pages making sure everything is “Ena” where that’s a parameter
Set midi dump to “All data” and leave it there(There is a youtube that shows this.
I’m assuming you’ve downloaded the necessary file from Korg site !!!
Download Microsoft Sysex App from web.
Then use these settings in the app
Choose your port
Pick file
Transfer Buffer size
Transfer delay
Delay after initial FO
Then send
Worked first time !! After 2hours of zilch with cheapo cable which was transmitting! Good luck

Thanks Dave.
That was quite a while ago i had the problem.
I am not a midi guy nor do i understand how it works :) :-\   i just use it for the standard and combo sounds.

I ended up buying a Kork M1 card on eBay for 50 bucks and did it that way.  Easy fix.
I have the card gaffed to the keyboard for next time.  Changing the internal battery on the M1 was tricky but thanks to good old YouTube it was made a lot easier.
Thanks for your input though.
