I've had a nasty cold that made me hoarse but today I felt much better and was able to sing!  Not well but I really enjoyed being able to practice at lunch. :)

I suggested to Matthias that he finally close the Kristal forum as it is still a haven for spam that I have to clean up each day. It looks lilke he did it...

Old Kristal Challenge entry.
« on: May 13, 2018, 01:10:44 PM »
Hi all https://app.box.com/s/gvj2x0b3nrstnr0nzb23
I tried to post this yesterday, but something went wrong - not quite sure what, so I thought I'd try again. The challenge was to write a piece of music to suggest a season of the year; so I thought, "Right, I'm gonna win this," and by the end of it, I was burbling. Guess what? Didn't win though. But there were some fantastic song writers on there though - and also a lot on here. This was supposed to be  a piece of music with several variations, but after the first one, I'd had enough. I wanted to do something that suggested maybe Chopin or Rachmaninoff, so I at least hope I achieved that.?.?.? Eeee, I do miss playing though.
Take care,
Bri

Missed this earlier somehow, Bri, just caught it and listened.

If you didn't win the challenge with this piece, there must have been some really great ones in the mix.  I liked this piece a lot.

The challenge must have been before my time, I don't remember it.  Really nice work there...  :)

That was exceptional Bri but I especially liked tat intro. It reminded me so much of The Carnival Band who backed Maddy Prior on her Christmas Capers tour.
Here's a clip.
What a pity we can't know in advance who the spoiling minority are!

Hey, thanks guys,I didn't think this was going to attract any attention, but hey, there you go. What do I know?Firstly Joom.Yes there were some great composers/vocalists/musicians on there - as indeed there are on here; so, it's nice to be able to post something once in awhile. Thx so much for your reply, my mate.
way2lon,Thanks to you also. Nice to know you liked this... and what about Maddy Prior, eh? Still going strong, from all accounts. A little bit of news that I did know. She was born and so comes from the town where I now live - and have done for the last 40 years; oops, giving my age away there a bit. Yep, jolly old Blackpool by the sea. Mid season here right now and Absolutely BRILLIANT weather. My first bit of a tan in years. My last one was c/o the Middle East. Got quite badly burnt. Still, that's what happens when you fall asleep in the sun out there. Ruddy good tan though. Have Steeleye Span split up now, do you happen to know?
Lastly, but not least, DazzJayy.Yes, I miss playing so much, but hey... what the heck. I imagine - although I'm not totally sure - that this would have been around '04/5ish, but that's a pure guess. Yep, they could be very tough judges of a person's music on Kristal. Thanks again to all of you for your replies. Very much appreciated
