I've been closing out multiple business websites and telling them they need to find another web person, because I can't keep doing them anymore...  :(

That's strange.  I don't know what the problem might be.  I had to log into GoDaddy today for a business website and didn't have any problem.  Wish I could help, Neil, but there's nothing I can do on your account...

Huh!  Neil gave me the link to the new site, and I checked it out yesterday.  Looking good.  But went to look at it again today and can't get there.  What do you think, Neil?

DIY Amp/Talkbox
« on: January 31, 2015, 06:34:43 AM »

It's a 10 watt amp and a 350Hz - 9kHz 50watt rms 100 peak PA Horn speaker driver 2" phenolic from Radio Shack 1/2" PVC 5/8"od tubing up the stand with 1/2"od for the mouth piece. I chose to use jacks instead of a switch (didn't have one) and bigger tubing. Just finished it  waiting for some glue to dry. You'll be hearing it soon  ;) .....meanwhile here's one similar

Back in the day, there was talk that 'Talk boxes' could damage your throat. Something to do with the pressure waves from the tube hitting it, in a confined space.....  ::)

It has enough Huevos for live use imho it is pretty hot. Just an expensive toy to play with here at the house .... live ...... so my engineering is aimed at live use.  :P The drool is kinda gross. It would knock your fillings loose i'd imagine. Gonna crank it up this afternoon ........
Going to get a few capacitors  ........... :-\ ? 75 or 50 uF ?  Sacrifice a little to protect the driver 350Hz. Tube amps would need more parts load a resistor and a coil to plug into it.

Trick is to "D" shape that tube to go around the mic without touching the ball/grill  ............ gonna try a blow dryer.  :-\ Stretch the tubing even  :o Using a Nady SP1 cheap but very sensitive mic.

The mic is cranked up! So the tube needs to be aimed straight out so it doesn't get picked up unless it's in your mouth.

For recording you don't have to deal with the mic thing at all it's pretty loud even my smaller toy made from a tiny Fender battery amp would give you a pretty cool sound. Unlike the small talkbox , this thing is pretty invisible/quiet but twice the wattage of a Banshee.

Good point , I'd like to get it where the tube doesn't have to be it the mouth  ;)

Nice video  :) he has such a nice tone ... the worlds greatest.        Couple 100uF 35volt from RadioShack made into a non polarized (-++-) 50uF a little thinner but okay ......... Wide open is not necessary really but yeah wide open ain't blown it yet ......... need to make a momentary ABY switch  ;) I guess. You could probably get away with a smaller tubing like Jeff Beck has there  8)

A little short ... very very short clip of the mouth wah funny we're using the PA but most of the sound recorded is the tube no other amps the box a bit over half volume.... people sure p l a y  s l o w when they've had a drink or two around here. So it's not to tempo  :P The portable recorder was a few feet away from the tube/me the straight guitar parts are the tube/box reflecting/playing off my face  :-X ........ a very clumsy person could really damage their hearing fumbling around with one of these .... and end up with the tube in your ear. A momentary AB switch would be a little extra safety.

It will take some time to learn how to use it to do the Alvino Rey stuff for now it's "cows with voiceboxes". Might be able to reduce the tube at the mouthpiece 1 more size 3/8 OD . It's very efficient  ;)
