Wasn't meant to be a hint but if your friend had tickets to a show somewhere near his place, anď if I'm in the neighborhood anyway at a coincidentally opportune time....😉

Nice score, and a very clean layout....what a small tone stack board! :P

Knowing how brittle the high end is on the 990 (I used mine to death!) I like the Overdrive / Grit tone...I wonder ow it would sound on single coils?

Side note, how do you like that Dean? I was looking at one for a long time, but was not sure of the neck thickness.... 8)

Very well made amp ...  The lead channel is pretty gritty , the mode 2 switch about makes it just totally nasty. It will squeal pretty good when you want it too. It's pretty quiet on the clean side but noisy on the lead side. Never put a 4ohm load on it before but I imagine it would get the threshold of pain on the db scale. That Peavey Raptor closest thing to a Strat around here has a thinner sound on it , but hey I'm a Humbucker  enthusiast :P I don't crank it up past the middle volume wise, mostly clean channel use , it breaks up like a tube amp when you push it and generally mic it thru our PA here to jam. Catch the mic on the recording head ;)
The Deans if your talking about the Vendetta's about 25mm at the first double marker , and you can reach the second double marker pretty easy. I don't know shapes on necks that well seems to be a flatter back than our Yamaha EG112 which rounder but 25mm at the double marker too subtract a mm or two for the strings. We have two , the black one is pretty much is the same as the Charvel same pickups less sustain , but the tone is alike. It's got a better bridge than stock. The thru body strings idea is BS one day I'll add a tailpiece to the black one.
The brown one is all stock the pick ups are blah dull the action is not quite as good (need to change the tone cap) the bridge is cheap and I've got coins stacked under it to keep it from collapsing in the middle. That adds to the sustain actually so it's a cheap mod on any guitar (nickles dimes quarters whatever wedges in there) We use the guitar for slide , open tuning , and drunks. The winders are okay. I can tune em up and play em but some folks are a little more picky.
      The +'s
1.  I saw a video of two kids trying to destroy one of these in the street. Throwing it stomping on it , swinging it like a bat into the asphalt. Took them a long time to bust the head joint , they never got the neck to break from the body.
2. It's an extremely light weight guitar
3. the action is pretty good for a $120. guitar your not going to play the lead for Layla on it without some work.
4. Long neck 24frets
5. You could swing it in a bar fight with confidence , the neck will stay on it (-!)

Okay ... lets do this one more time ... take 43 http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=1277143

Yup...the Vendetta is what I was talking about. The acoustic bass & 5 string bass that I owned was pretty nice feeling, that is why I was curious about a first hand view of it....
