That's strange.  I don't know what the problem might be.  I had to log into GoDaddy today for a business website and didn't have any problem.  Wish I could help, Neil, but there's nothing I can do on your account...

Capacitor Failure
« on: May 25, 2014, 06:18:26 PM »
Here's something you don't think about every day .... Whilst searching for info on capacitors for our Acoustic B20 combo bass amp I came across this little article thought it was worth sharing. http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/the-secret-world-of-amp-caps-1

I try to DIY when I can

Thanks for posting these links, FX. Good info.  I've had to deal with lots of bulging & leaking caps before but never one that blew like the 1st pic.  Wicked.  Shocking.

Back in the early 70s an electronics pal told me to beware of exploding caps (hot stuff flying everywhere, he said). Never saw one, and never got past the fear...........  ???

yeah, pretty wild - those little guys can pack quite a 'punch', so I've been told.
Had a tech guy workin' in our studio that said he had one blow out on him... and what saved him was the fact that he had glasses on.

The guy put a higher rating fuse in it eh never a smart idea. The regular failure picture is our amp  ;)   Hopefully the new caps will repair the little B20 we ran it up pretty loud at times  :-[ It's a killer little amp. It has a 1/4 line out on the back ::) (Tapped the headphone jack) didn't think to look at the caps at that time.  :P heck it could be the diodes  :-\ I ordered 5 caps so I wonder if the fuses from China will make it before the caps from Ohio

The caps are installed  ;D waiting on the fuses  :P

Old caps Fortune 2200uF 25v -40+85C
 New caps JWCO 2200uF 25v -40+105C

The exploded caps were caused by a misread T3.15A instead of  T.315mA If it didn't list the fuse type on the transformer I'd be out of luck trying to read whats on the fuse itself  :o

ooops ...... I'll take it back apart  :-[ Believe it or not the first time I disassembled the B20 (to add the line out jack) it involved cutting the speaker wires between the cabinet and brain with a long butcher knife. Definitely tougher than the cap job it was real simple. ;) Reading the values on the fuse required glasses and a giant magnifying glass. Had to be sure my Chinese friends sent the right fuses. No photography allowed when I get out my soldering iron.

It looks like the attached photo in the OP only the new caps are a bit shorter and less swollen   ;D
