I've been closing out multiple business websites and telling them they need to find another web person, because I can't keep doing them anymore...  :(

June 23, 2020, 11:15:24 PM
That's strange.  I don't know what the problem might be.  I had to log into GoDaddy today for a business website and didn't have any problem.  Wish I could help, Neil, but there's nothing I can do on your account...

Huh!  Neil gave me the link to the new site, and I checked it out yesterday.  Looking good.  But went to look at it again today and can't get there.  What do you think, Neil?

Jet city JCA22H amp
« on: November 18, 2013, 05:42:53 PM »
Since I posted my tube issue I figure I'd post some meaningless info ... Ok so My power tubes or one for sure was wasted as in spiral amp thread the tubes I bought are these and here are some very shaky break downs LOL

JJ EL84 / 6BQ5   JJ-EL84   These tubes instantly made a world of difference ... everything just jumped to life cool ... I can't give the whole micro phonics break down but the whole sound just tighten up .

A note to consider , these amps are designed as high gain and there's boat loads of info on moding . The amp is 2 channel,  Crunch and then Crunch and munch devastation.

So my goal is to try and cut down all the munching going on and clean the crunch channel up so there's more chunk with a little crunch then just plain full on crunch

pre-amp tubes below were tested in V1 only and I'll give my lame'O description of what I heard

JJ ECC83 / 12AX7   JJ-ECC83 ......  original tubes are Chinese 12ax7b's whats the B ? had to look that up, still not sure but one thread says designed with more over drive then the plain AX7.  All 5 pre-amps tubes are these in this amp.

Ok so what I heard for the replacement JJ was not that great ... the sound was a little darker, more muddy and notes seemed to get lost a bit . see simple break down LOL

JJ ECC81 / 12AT7   JJ-ECC81 ........ This tube was said to cut the down the gain a good bit which is what I am after so in it went .

Wow ! nice it cut the gain the crunch channel sounds a lot better and leans more to the clean side . Now one thing I remember from my old Kustom quad 100 was the clean with the same guitar had a really cool pop and bright sound to it using the single coil setting so I always have that sound in my head .

This was close , it was there but did not have the punch . The rhythm or neck position well lets forget it this amp don't care at all for that sound and the only thing that would is a full on mod and new pick ups ! :P

The lead was ok more like cleaner crunch channel no munch just clean crunch hahahaha  it was lacking

JJ 5751 Preamp Tube ......... The winner !

This tube was said to be in between AX7 and AT7 leaning more towards the higher side of the AX7  And this one is the winner the lead channel has great definition the right amount of gain with a tad of munching going on .

The clean was as close for the tubes I have to get close to the Quad 100 as described above .. Blues sound is way better as well on this channel of now less crunch and no munch .  :D

Turning up the gain sound really round it up some . Guitar Volume plays a good part as well which most if not all you know.

Ok so some more notes to consider;  ::)

I have no idea what I speak of

There's to many variables to explain anything when it comes to this stuff  .....  Tube brands , peoples own hearing , amp designs , guitar types , speaker types , cabinets , speaker size and number ...... you get the idea .

Settings on the amp I used for this .... are in the pics what to look at is gain settings and master   no 10's LOL

last comment would make more sense if there was some sound samples .... Sorry I'm interfaceless at the moment  :o :(

I will try and switch out V2 and V3 positions tomorrow to hear what changes they will make with the two tubes I have left and maybe mess with mixing 1,2,3 line up with what I have to see what that does ... I seem to have the time LOL

3rd pic is the bad El84s one must be older then the other because it has a different color logo ink but thats a weak point to make LOL but all I have :)
