I've been closing out multiple business websites and telling them they need to find another web person, because I can't keep doing them anymore...  :(

That's strange.  I don't know what the problem might be.  I had to log into GoDaddy today for a business website and didn't have any problem.  Wish I could help, Neil, but there's nothing I can do on your account...

Huh!  Neil gave me the link to the new site, and I checked it out yesterday.  Looking good.  But went to look at it again today and can't get there.  What do you think, Neil?

Recording videos?
« on: September 05, 2018, 04:45:18 AM »
I've watched a few videos, but if you guys have any advice, please let me know.

I'm interested in creating music videos for some of my songs. I have a couple of good video cameras and pretty good video editing software. I gather that USUALLY the song is recorded first, then the video is shot, with lip syncing, etc.

Thoughts on how to best accomplish this from scratch?

I've never made a video, but one thing I do know from having seen guides etc (as I'd considered doing one, but then decided against it), is the lighting is essential.  There's much you can edit at the end, but if the lighting is bad then the footage is as good as ruined.

Also - plan, plan, plan.  Storyboard how you  want the video to be.

I been long over due to do the same . I’m going get the zoom Q2n it’s affordable and portable 😁
If want better audio sound I can record with the Q2n while using my daw then combine on video software.
As to adding in different views some a few different camera angles .if your going to add nature scenes etc just use your imagination as where to place them in the vid . It’ll come together the more you do it :)

A quick search brought up a ton of stuff, but these look the most promising...

https://diymusician.cdbaby.com/music-promotion/6-tips-to-making-a-no-budget-music-video/

The 2nd one from DIY Musician includes some behind the scenes videos to show how they did it. Tho I am in the "want to make one, but have not got around to it" club I see a lot of info, both good & bad out there. The folks here have gave you some solid advice so far, and I would like to add something I have found in my amateur photography & green screen playing around...

We are working I 2 dimensions. When lighting a scene you MUST make sure to do some kind of back lighting on you / the subject to separate them out from the background. Something as simple as a 60-100watt clip on lamp shining on the hair or shoulder from above & the rear will help pop the subject away from the background.

As for camera / camcorder / cell phone, I am a believer in use what ya have NOW to get started, and then as you get deeper into it you will discover what you really need for YOU, not what someone else says you need.

Good Luck with it, you are a braver soul than I am!  :P  8)

.....and that is the best piece of advice you will ever hear....doesn’t just apply to video creation.....

We should all get that tattooed on the back of our hand so we can remind ourself every day....

Why thanks you Mr. Neil, there are a lot of us around here!  :P

I feel that EVERY person on this forum is a pro at something, and when the advice is shared we ALL profit from it....unlike some places where they will do it FOR you instead of telling you HOW to do it....does that make sense?

Anywho, I have wanted to try me hand at a video, but it never gets past the set up / record / playback / oh look at all the cool effects I can use on the clip!  :P  8)
