Title: Jan '19 ODC voting and results
Post by: papaG on February 06, 2019, 06:42:14 AM
Story Time

Quote
I want a story.

Now some of you are brilliant instrumentalist.
Some are good lyricist.
Some can sing a little.
Some would like to take part in a challenge but don't have all those talents.
Some may just have an idea in their head.

So, if you have tune or a word or two or even a story that you can't put to rhyme, just say so and we'll take it from there.
You can either do it on this board by showing what you've got and asking for help or by private message to anyone you think will help you.

It does not matter if someone  helps 1,2,,3 or as many others as they want. The contest will be decided on what each individual decides is the best musical story.

The winning song will then have one of it's participants choose between them who is  to set the next challenge.

Now you get to vote for your favorite song. Looking for individual vote from each participant.
Listen to the songs below and PM your votes to me or email to papagee1 (at) live.ca listing the songs in order of your preference. Entrants do NOT need to vote themselves last but you must vote.
Voting closes Saturday Feb 9, results on Sunday

1. Andy Social January KAE Challenge
2. Fiction - Redjoker and Gazebo
3. Freezing Cold Walking - Gazebo
4. Ghost Ship - Cottonwood ft papaG
5. A Day In The Life - papaG and Joom

Yikes! I'm embarrassed that I submitted a draft! Those are some good songs.

Well, on the plus side, I don't have to help think of a topic for next month!

Well done guys!  Nice song, and really well produced.  A worthy winner.

Props to Cottonwood & G as well - I thought that was a terrific song.

Good job all.

I also had Cotton and PapaG as the high contender.

Well done PG and Joom.  You rocked out good on that one.

Those were my top two.  I actually listened to them both a few times over a couple days, just to be sure.

As a side note, ODC voting is something I look forward to each month-ish.  I really enjoy hearing everyone's take on the challenge topic.

Back in the good'ol days Red, (KAE Days) we used to give critique on each song also.  That was interesting.

Of course, the comments were all positive as we are good folks in here :) :)   but nonetheless, it was nice to hear any comment about something you have worked on for a few weeks.

I’m with Dino.....I always liked a little critique...even the brutally honest ones lol

It’s the easiest way to learn as long as it’s constructive  :)

I sure wish we did that now. Of course, I've posted a separate thread after the challenge asking specifically for feedback and have learned a ton! So it's not like we can't get that now.

I found those early challenges very useful learning tools, as there were a lot of "technical" criteria, like times sigs, key changes, etc.  really made you work for it!

Also, there were a lot more entrants.  If I remember right, wasn't one something like 15 or 17 entrants? Or more?

Having said that tho, I find myself guilty of not being an entrant for a while now.  I have to correct that.

Yeah me to been out for a long while now . I still have things to get straight before that happens .

I agree,  the first challenges and of coarse the great folks who here
helped me develop my art is something I'll always be thankful for.

As to challenges now and where I'm at I'm kind of just wanting to write the stuff you folks have heard . I'm not interested at this point to anything other then write a good tune that  comes naturally. Maybe I'll change at some point like we always do as time passes lol I also I still have guitarritis and a few to sell and buy lol
