I now work from home so I don't really have any extra free time but one thing I've started doing is practicing my guitar during those conference calls that should have been emails. Got a good couple hours of playing in today.

Completed Cover Songs / Bandicoot Jam - Track Tryouts
« on: December 28, 2017, 12:21:34 PM »
This thread won't contain your average cheater, nor will it contain a reasonable cover version resulting from many takes trying to get that nirvana version.

No, these are basically the Bandicoots trying out a variety of songs, recorded live, all in one-take - some, for the first time together/ever, and will contain all of the pitchiness, lyrical cock-ups (Neil went to Redwood twice in a version of Heart of Gold...), and some vocal gymnastics as we may all of a sudden decide to test out some harmonies.

In short, jam/practice sessions. In these next few posts, this one half of Bandicoot Jam, Joey (Ian) and Jacky (Steve) Bandicoot trying out a variety of songs for half an acoustic set for the Aussie Day gig.

You have been warned....

Falls a little short of the DAWS we all know and love to hate and love, but not too hard to get your head around.

A few idiosyncrasies and subscription-based for varying degrees of the "fruit":

This link will get you two months free premium - I didn't have to use a credit card to join so this shouldn't be any different...

Don't get your hopes up.. those of you who use Failbook already know what to expect...   :P

So, Friday night, drummer and jam-room host Scott contacts John the bassist (and guitarist and drummer) and myself to see if we wanted to do a "fill in gig on Sunday... nothing serious... treat it as a jam..." . He never expected us to say yes.

Sunday morning comes, I think we were all feeling some anxiety at the lack of a lead guitarist to draw attention away from my playing :)
The one guy we'd had play with us all of once most recently couldn't make it so at 9:00 am on Sunday, Scott asks "Should we ask Ian?" who was our regular lead guy until life was getting in the way. The Prodigal Lead Guitarist returned!!

John's wife took a few short snippets of the set on her smartphone when she had the opportunity...

Amps / Blackstar ID:Core 100
« on: November 25, 2016, 04:00:32 AM »
So while the DIY tube amp is in waiting, I've been selling off a lot of gear.. you know, that stuff that seemed like a good idea at the time.. and I got this to jam with:

The "100" is one of those HiFi amp market BS pitches where you add the wattage of stereo channels to get a "total". I wanted a 50W Marshall Code to jam but decided on one of these instead.

Still can't play like any of you lot so no monster demos a la Spiral :)

You'll have to put up with an "ad" :)

This one's a much better one, if you have the time (23 minutes) and can stand Danny's numpty interjections (he's a far better guitarist than he is an interviewer)

If you don't have an iLok account and /or you don't want one (don't need dongles any more, just internet), then don't bother.

If you hate signing up with email account to get something, also don't bother... you'll still need an iLok account... :)

Alternative / Hiphopadelic
« on: October 28, 2016, 06:35:07 AM »
So I did a little more to the WIP today.

This'll do for now - I've labelled it chillout - a sort of repetitive drone with a few melodic pieces and rhythm over  the top of it, a little like Indian music I guess but my own form of it.

Hey @Joom , if it's not too much trouble, any chance of adding HearThis.at to the BBCode, please?
Don't know if this Wordpress link is of any use to you as a starting point...

I mentioned in my recent blog post that I didn't record it... well, I went back and had another go and this time I recorded it...

Next time I'll tune the guitar up first...

For sake of a definition it's trancey Hiphop with no break in pattern. I'll save that for Ron....
