Jes Combobob. Talk about make us feel old. I was watching a Christopher Ecclestone old doctor who and the mobiles in 2005 seemed prehistoric. Times change. For better and worse.

Happy 15th TTM. I remember the first song I recorded fot the Kristal Challenge in 2005. It had bass and vocals and I uploaded it on the old dial-up. How things have changed...I have learned so much from you all and made many friends here.  :)

Country / go on home
« on: April 05, 2019, 06:26:18 AM »
I've been working on this on and off (mostly) for ages.

This is the latest version.

There's no smiley face in a cowboy hat so this will have to do  (-!)

You walk alone
Thru streets unknown
I wonder where your going to
She’s waiting still
She always will
That’s the love she holds for you
Go on home
The lights still on
A candle burns there for you
Go on home she’s all alone
Her arms are waiting to

Another town
Another name
Your just a drifter passing thru
Somewhere out there
Is one who cares
That’s the love she holds for you

Go on home
Go on home
A candle burns there for you
Go on home she’s all alone
Her arms are waiting to

I found this while flicking through my files today, pretty sure I never posted it or at least I can't find where I posted it.

I think someone else might have done a version around the same time .

So now that you've all had time to forget how good that other version was, here's mine.

Now where's my Cowboy Hat and Rhinestone Suit?

Country / merry christmas
« on: December 24, 2018, 04:36:34 AM »
well no it's not really finished but it's as far as I'm going to get before Santa arrives. Still a lot of work to do polishing it up.

Thanks to Joom for the extra ideas, not your exact words, but your suggestions put me on a better track and the influence is obvious.

I'll have a go at really finishing it in the new year.

and if I change the title to happy new year, 2 songs for the price of one.

merry christmas folks  (-!)

Merry Christmas to you my darlin
Another year apart has come and gone
And it’s fair to say that I miss you more than ever
While we’re apart my love for you stays strong

The ocean that’s between us that’s just water
I would gladly swim the widest wildest sea
Just to hold you close and whisper
Loving you is all there is to me
Will you please kiss the children for me
Your everything and more that I hold dear
And if it’s true that this war is nearly over
Then I hope to see you all this time next year.

Open DAW Challenge (the ODC) / August result
« on: September 06, 2018, 09:29:07 PM »
..and by that of course I mean the result is for the challenge for the month of August, not that the result itself was also august as were all of the entries if you see what I mean...

Look I'm getting myself confused here so I think I'd better ask the extreamly handsome tallyman to hand me the envelope...thank you tally man...and the winner is......hangon how do you open this thing...I don't know why they have to seal the darn envelope, just give me a minute will you....Where's the flap....is there a flap on this ##%2*^ thing, can someone get me a letter opener please...CAN SOMEONE GET ME A @#%$@# LETTER OPENER PLEASE.

Right so the winner is...is this right...are we sure it's not a mistake...

the winner is NeilMac

closely followed by Smurf, so close the judge had to call for the developed print to split them, then the rest in a bunch just behind.

Well done Neil and thank you handsome tallyman.

Rock / rock&roll
« on: April 28, 2018, 05:16:22 AM »
The original of this song was not rock, but I couldn't do the original style justice so I did this..

Most Australians will hear this song somewhere a couple of times a year but I'm not sure if you other folks will be familiar with it. If you haven't heard it, here's a link to the original great song by a very good sadly under recognised performer.

This one "Bonny Please Don't Go" is also worth a listen

and this one "Shaney Boy"

always loved this song so i've given it a go. It was too big to fit in the upload player so anyone interested will have to use the attachment, sorry.

I got the backing from this site:

It seems to have a stack of material and had several things I liked:

1. I didn't have to join, give my email address or create a password
2. I just hit download, there was no mention of money  :o

I played some of these in the music store recently;

A really nice feel and great tone and rather than tell you what I think it sounded like, probably easier to just say everything else I played:  Ovations, Fenders and even Matons sounded like fencing wire on a 4b2 plank in comparison.

I didnay buy, I only went in for new strings and $2k - $4k was too much of a stretch.

I'm not sure whether anyone ever comes across them outside Oz, but if you do have a play. I think you'll be impressed.

Challenges / OCD November Result
« on: December 05, 2017, 08:56:30 AM »
Despite PG's best efforts and selfless dedication of voting repeatedly in various disguises, the votes have dried up like the indelible ink on all his fingers and toes.

So Im declaring the polls closed

and just like bargain hunt we don't have losers on the challenge, just runners up.

And the runners up this month in alphabetic order were:

One track

So there you go.

What that, you want to know the winner.

Well all right if you absolutely insist on knowing, this months winner :

A big cheers please for

Mr Whitestrat
yay, woo, woo.....
 (-!) AAAAGH

After hearing Smurf's effort with band in a box, I decided to give it a go.

It arrived this afternoon, so this is my 3 hour effort including the instal time.

Basically I gave it a chord progress and it did most of the rest. I exported the individual tracks to upload to Studio 1 to do the vocals and remix and  pan the BiaB tracks and chop some things out.

So I've got almost no idea how to use it, but happy with what it came up with. Can see it as a great tool to get things started or to add additional instruments in.

It's not a complete song, only got one verse but anyway here you go.

Video - Performing / oh no not him again
« on: August 29, 2017, 04:12:05 AM »
Well the trip to Darwin was for my mate Rob's wedding.

He was the original bass player in a band which included me and Toad. Rob's also a TTM member (Hemsley) but I haven't been able to get him to get active.

He's been insisting for months that I do an old song with him at the wedding (as part of his speech).  Apparently there's hidden message in it but despite having written it I'm not sure what it is. Still it's hard to refuse a favor to the bridegroom, so in TTM tradition I'm honor bound to provide a phone video of the big event.

Here's ya link.

In Search of Humor / following the recent trend

You hear about the guy lost on a desert island. Well he’s sitting there for months under a palm tree living on coconuts, when one day out of the water comes a gorgeous blond in a wet suit with and a backpack.
When she finds out he’s been there for months she say’s.... “well I bet you could do with something other than coconuts to eat".

So she unzips the backpack and pulls out a tinned ham, which he devours in a couple of minutes. “That was great” he says.

“Now I bet you’d like a drink and smoke” and low and behold she produces a bottle of scotch and a packet of filter tips.

When he’s had a few swigs and is puffing merrily away, she looks at him suggestively and says “and now I bet you’d like to play around”.

“Would I ever” he says, “don’t tell me you’ve got a set of golf clubs in there”
