And I don't have computer work to do till Monday or Tuesday.  Is it okay if I work on some music stuff this weekend?   ???

Okay, I've replaced both tie rod ends and realigned one car (and cleaned brake pads and caliper).  Replaced the power steering line in another.  And fixed the radio (for the wife) in another.  Cold, wet, sore, and tired.

No problem, Kev, I know how things can just keep coming up...  :)

Yeah sorry Joom, had to make a phone call, hence the break in the performance.

So, since I couldn't work, I came in and spent an hour warming up.  And then decided I wanted to hear the new speakers.  Have to say, I'm very pleased with them.  Way more volume than I need, and the sound is great.  I'll be ordering another pair...

But, after spending a while getting all dressed up, and tools and jacks together, I got started on the vehicles.  But, at +4 and wind at 40mph gusting to 50, it didn't take long crawling around on the snowy/icy driveway to just give it up.  Maybe tomorrow...

How about something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-1002FX-Input-Bus-Mixer/dp/B000J5SYPY

@papaG uses something similar.... mine is smaller and doubt have the FX....

I use a Voicelive Play for my vox..... I guess if you were micing your voice and acoustic you could put the whole performance through that  :)

Or you could spend a whole pile of cash and buy this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00PSMBC2U/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1516322835&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=voicelive+play&dpPl=1&dpID=51Lkh8He3DL&ref=plSrch

......even so, it might not be the mounting etc, it could be dirt/corrosion on the cable plug or female jack.....or even just the arm itself being bent out from continuously plugging in and out..... or even a little wear on the pieces that touch.....

I’ve had a few jacks that buzzed like hell every time I moved on both pedal and guitar ends.....

A little easy maintenance goes a long way......

I’m assuming you’ve tried different cables....

Your “guy” probably isn’t far wrong in that what he’d CHARGE you to fix it is probably more than the cost of a new one lol

Edit: I had the Zoom 505 till a year ago (same vintage) and if memory serves I *think* the jack was surface mount.... I also had some jack issues which were solved by cleaning the contacts on the inside with a piece of household scrubber pad....(the type with sponge on one side and a scrubber on the other - can’t remember what you call them in th Uk)

Found it - this thing https://www.google.ca/search?q=sponge+scrubber+pads+uk&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-ca&client=safari#imgrc=qKRwxx0bzMoIsM: I just pull the scrubber part off lol emery cloth would do the same job :P

Absolutely, Kev.  If the unit can be taken apart (and it can), the jack can be replaced.

Oh, and if you can't find an exact replacement jack, you can easily wire an external jack into the unit...

Thanks, Joom.  It was a lot of fun.  Not very polished mind, with me getting the lyrics wrong on my own song, forgetting the latter half of one song I'd intended to play in full and a couple of bum chords here and there.  But it was fun none the less!

I did very much plan to do last night, it was just a case I didn't want to promise I'd be on in case a) things changed (my life's plans can be a bit fluid - as my parents, whom I'm currently living with, will attest to lol) and b) I suffered techinical problems or didn't like the sound so didn't want to broadcast it.

I do have a plan to make things sound a little nicer though.  I initially tried plugging both my electric guitar and mic into my interface, but the webcam software would only pick up the sound from the mic and not the guitar.  So, I'm going to get a cheap mixer, plug both into that and then plug the mixer into the mic input on my interface.

Also, I want a reverb sound as well to make it a little nicer, so I either need to try and fix the dodgy connection on my guitar effects unit (either the input our output is temperamental, can't remember which without trying), or buy a specific reverb pedal and plug that in between the mixer and my interface.

Joom, I think you may be the man to ask this as you seem quite technical.  I asked a local guitar repair shop about fixing the faulty jack in my guitar effects unit, which is one of these (about 20 years old, but I'm pretty fond of it):

The guy at the shop said these aren't designed to be fixed really and once a jack goes, it's pretty much goodbye.  I believe this to be nonsense and it's simply a case of finding a new jack and soldering the thing on.  Would you agree?

Enjoyed what I saw, Kev, you'll have to do it again sometime soon.  But let us know ahead of time so we can plan for it...

So I did it.  Just a shame I can't route the sound through Guitar Rig to get a bit of reverb going to help the sound some.  I assume a hardware solution would be needed for that as opposed to a software one, as the webcam broadcasting software conks out as soon as anything which needs Asio4All kicks in!

Still it was fun, thanks to PapaG and Joom for showing up.  Sorry I had to break it off halfway through, needed to return a phone call which came through as I was singing Annie's Song!!
