Worked the first half of the day, then kids and grandkids came out for the afternoon.  Didn't know it, but one of the granddaughters is studying to be a pediatric nurse in the Air Force.  Go figure.  From all the news, just doesn't seem like a good time to jump into the military...

It did, Smurf.  Met some new neighbors, got to see a couple we hadn't seen for a while, and just had a good chat.  And everybody enjoyed the food.  We enjoyed it.  But now tomorrow and Monday will be cleaning up and moving a ton of stuff again...

Well, after all that work it's over.  Did rain all day, so it was an inside affair.  And of course the rain kept a few from coming, ended up with 36.  All had a great time chatting and eating, it was worth the work.  And I have leftovers.  Now, song stuff...

Well, everything is ready to go, whether it's inside or out.  Tons of prep work, lots of food ready to cook, and today the wife baked 4 cakes and 50 cupcakes for dessert.  We have food for 50, but with the rain I don't expect more than 30 or so.  In any case, won't be back here till tomorrow night...

Some probably won't come, and the rest will all have to fit in the house somehow.

I'm just being silly based on neil's comments of weed varieties.  In my head, it was funny to associate Acoustic Alchemy to weed shops.   ;D ;D

Right on Gaz :) but Newage is funny as a genre the spectrum is wide and covers many different styles .
Best example of the top of my head is Acoustic Alchemy .

I want make sure that I don’t point blame at individuals for such things but society today puts so much stress on us that we don’t know where to turn to find balance so I/ we should look within and meditate , hopefully with some good New Age music. ;)
Peace Yo ! :)

Absolutely brother , there’s no gain in blaming others right or wrong it just brings you down to their level .
Feel the burn of hate but let it pass by and be better for it you/we will not succumb !

When I had my stoke four and a half years ago, I blamed everyone (except myself) for it. It only occurred to me much later that I had it on the day I got my 'flu jab - and I went to bed not feeling so well - and so I now blame that f

Wish we could get cable internet here, I keep using up my satellite bandwidth.  Reason update today - 314mb for the update, 2.8gb for the Sound Bank update, 106mb for the patch collection, and 180mb for the Drum Sequencer update.

thats good advice bone, but its never easy to convince them that "maybe its time to accept some help", i see it alot at work, it may sound harsh, but sometimes you just gotta let them "fail" before they realise that, older folk can be funny like that, though i cant blame them, nobody wants to losee

Joom

May 07, 2018, 07:06:20 PM
Not yet, Bone.  They don't want strangers stopping in.  They don't mind going to the doctors offices or hospital, but they won't want anybody at their house.  Except us.  I think they're worried about being told what they can and can't do...

Would they at least consider having a nurse check in on them at a regular interval? When my mom was getting bad near the end, we bought her an emergency device to wear in case she fell. It stayed on her nightstand and she never wore it. I could buy it, but not make her wear it.

Absolutely right, Smurf.  They afraid of losing their independence, even though they're not very independent anymore.  But, what can you do?  Just take the best care of them you can...

Parents can be pretty hard headed at times, we tried to get ours to live with us also for years but no go......I always felt that they feared a loss of independence & relying on someone else to do their part....

I've lost both parents and my wife lost her mom, so we only have her dad left. Luckily, he's in fairly good health at the moment. Diabetes does indeed take a toll. It took both of my parents.

His bad overall health and multiple issues is one of the reasons they won't do the brain surgery he needs.  He couldn't even remember being taken into emergency last week...

Thanks, BD.  It is tough, especially when they start to lose it a little and won't listen to reason.  In this case, though, they're only slightly older than me.  Too young to be in the shape they're in.  But her father has been a diabetic over 40 years, and that has contributed to other problems...

Wife's 2 year old grandson loved his guitar, though.  His mother called an hour ago and said he keeps pointing at it wanting to play with it.  Next month giving him and his 2 brothers an organ like the ones I gave the granddaughters last month, that should be a hoot...

Thanks, guys.  Made it home, 2 hour nap since Friday.  Wife's folks aren't doing well, especially her father.  And still can't talk them into moving here with us yet.  Would be a lot easier to take care of them.  Hopefully someday soon...
