Congrats, for your first gig! Hopefully, the first of many....  ;)
And, more congrats for the fund raising! That was a fine thing to do and a brilliant way to use your launch!  8)

I had my first gig last night! Instead of collecting tips for me, I decided to make it a fundraiser.  We collected $383.25 for the local food bank!   :D

I found changing the velocity in Reason a little fiddly for my taste....but the overall SOUND of the instruments was outstanding!

October 28, 2018, 03:43:09 PM
Hey agr, I tried out the full version of Reason last year, but I like more control over the patterns. For my workflow I like Groove Monkee & Odd Grooves to lay down a root feel, then I go back in 90% of the time & tweak....add a ghost snare hit here, a cymbal there, etc. I found changing the velocit

Thanks, guys, appreciate the thoughts.  And appreciate all the hard work, White.

Besides the songs I should have already written (but haven't), I think I need to write one sometime soon just to blow off some steam...

Once again, sorry about the absence.  I’m going a little nuts here.  It’s been a crazy few months, with tons of crazy things going on daily.  Then two weeks ago, I was asked to rebuild two websites.  Two days later I was asked to build two new websites.  And the next day I was asked to develop 3 marketing videos.

In the middle of this, the family has been going in circles with my brother’s kids (the one that died) for the last few weeks about where and when to bury my brother.  They’re being dicks, and it looks like we won’t be able to bury him till September.

And during this, last week, another cousin passed, and on the same day one of my best old friends was killed in a car accident.  Then over the weekend a brother-in-law (of 58 years) died.  Trying to support survivors.

This is all added to trying to take care of the wife’s folks, who aren’t doing well.  Especially her Dad.  Doctor appointments, hospital visits, lots of other things they need.  And they live 350 miles from here.

I know I’m supposed to be helping with a few things here on site, but I don’t know when (or if) I’ll be able to grab some time.  The last few months have been bad, but this month is pure hell.

Not looking for sympathy or making excuses, just wanted to let everyone know I’m pretty well strung out right now and will be for a bit.  I’ll try to check in once in a while, but won’t be around much or be able to do anything in the foreseeable future.  Hopefully things will get back to normal sometime soon.

Meantime, hope everyone else is doing well...

Hot town, summer in the city
Only got 24 days, isn't that a pity
Right now, think I'm sitting pretty
Gotta see if I can write this little ditty

All around, people thinking let's go
Write a summer tune they'll want to play on the radio

Bet it made you want to dig out the old sheepskin vest and grow a beard.... ;)

Kinda, but I held back.  Don't want the wife to be able to have me declared senile quite yet...  8)

Congrats, Neil.  And nicely done RK, and Red.  All good stuff, and great listening.

Just too bad there has to be winners and losers in contests and challenges.  (-!)

At least in our challenges..............everyone's a winner, baby, that's no lie...  :)

Fun listen, Neil.  Hadn't heard that one in a few years.  Nice work all the way around...  ~:)

Good thoughts, One and Cotton.

Step inside, play this way
I don't think so, no way
Music is a bomb and I try to get it on
But I can't always do it so I just have fun
Play a little loop a little cheaters too
Write a few lyrics that's what I do

And I think I'm going to have to change mine soon, Bri.  It's been good for quite a few years, but it's about time I changed it to "JOROM" - (Just One Really Old Man)...  (-!)

Well, a little tired from no sleep lately, but I did enjoy listening to them all multiple times.  As usual.

Nice work everybody...

What everybody else said, W.  It would be a shame to see you go.  I have a hard time making most of the challenges myself, with time and life always getting in the way, but I do love to hear the music created here.  And really enjoy jumping in when I can.

And from one (slightly older) old timer to another, just being able to enjoy what we can while we can is important.  If you do feel you have to go, you take good care of yourself and make the most of your time, but I seriously hope you have a change of heart and hang around.

I would miss our occasional cheaters, mate...  ;)

One of my old favorites too, Bri.  Nice job on it...  :)

I know what you mean, JM.  Used to be I could write a set of lyrics in just a few minutes, but I've been trying to write a couple sets of lyrics for weeks (or months) now, and every time I set down to do it I just lock up.  I think if I could just get one done I could get back in the swing, but I don't know.  We'll see.

Been the same with working on music, too...

That tune is made with samples and loops from Mixcraft's library. I've forgotten why I called it Red Surf  :D

Nice.  I figured you made it, but wasn't sure...

Cool video, W, and nice shirt.

Where did the tune come from?
