Music getting published
« on: May 23, 2018, 11:29:18 AM »
After looking into the various options available to me, I am finally getting a song published to appear on iTunes, Spotify, Google music etc...

Just the one song for now (my most recent original with lyrics, the completely silly "I Has A Bucket").  However, there will be more hopefully in the not too distant future.  The song will be released on Monday 28th May as the track and cover art are all now approved.

For those interested (and indeed if you have songs you want to get out there yourselves) I have used https://amuse.io/ for my distribution, primarily because it's done at everyone's favourite price point (and they explain how and why on their website).

Thanks all!  I don't imagine it will actually sell too many - although it has somehow amassed 23,000 views on Youtube so stranger things have happened!  That says, if it sells one copy, I'd consider it a success haha!

But it's been a longstanding ambition to have something out in actual music stores, so to find a way of achieving that is really cool.

Cool catchy song Kevin.

I was looking into using routenote.com for posting my back catalog.  Looks like they post to the same providers, 100% free, but they get 15% of royalties, or you keep 100% royalties for a yearly fee. I still might use them once I get everything copywritten because I can post music under multiple band names under one account.  Or, can amuse.io do that, too?

You'd need separate accounts but all that requires is using more than one email address.

And thanks! It was stuck in my head whilst I was working on it!

In a frankly shocking turn of events, someone has actually bought and downloaded my song lol.  I expected a small handful of streams at best, so for someone to actually part with money to download my song feels like a massive success!

In case anyone's interested, linky:

Woohoo!  I used DistroKid which cost me $20.  I've since made $17 so I've very nearly broken even.  You are WAY ahead of me!

That's still pretty damned good.  I haven't seen any actual money as yet, but just to get a download is beyond what I'd expected.  I need more whimsical ideas to make songs out of haha.

Thanks all.  :)

I found out you can claim your artists pages on Spotify etc and update them.  Well, it would be rude not to......

(I have since updated it, as I'd mis-spelt Prize as Price!!)
