I can relate, Smurf.  Yesterday I made it 10-12 miles at 20mph before I turned around and came back.  Icy ruts pulling the car all over, and twice pulled me onto the center line with semi's coming the other way.  Scary...

Just had to turn around & come home from my sleep study tonight....super bad roads + ice + nothing but hills, valleys and drop-offs for 18 miles of the trip....no thanks! :P

Sampson monitors are supposed to be here UPS tomorrow sometime.  I have to go do a network job at a school, so I won't get to try them out till Wednesday.  But I have some mixing to do, so I'll let y'all know how they work...

I know, right?  I used to climb right in there.  Not anymore.

Two years ago I had to pull the exhaust manifold and some other things just to get to the back 3 plugs on one of the cars just to do a tuneup.

I've got a pile of tools and testers that weren't even thought of 50 years ago.  Aside from basic drive train axle stuff, you have to start with an OBD tester just to know what might be going on.

I've always said I'd love to have a 1965 'anything' in good shape to fix up and drive...

Things have definitely changed a lot from back in the day of simple carburetors and distributors with points, Buster.  I could fix most things on the road with a few tools.  Not any more...

You guys are doing well. The 1st car I owned I took out the engine and gearbox, removed all the parts, had the engine o'hauled, put it all back in, re-timed it and drove it away. The new truck, I can't name a single thing under the hood.

And yeah, garage and pole barn, both full of motorcycles and dirt bikes, mowers, and a ton of other crap.  Been promising myself to clean them out for a long time and give myself a work area...

Same here, Red.  Back in the 70's before I got into computers I was a licensed mechanic, and I still refuse to pay somebody else to do what I can do.  Most of the time...

Only -2 here today, not too cold.  But just finished 3 hours laying on ice doing a front end alignment on one of the cars.  That got cold.  Really need to clean out the garage...

Fishing song that could get you in trouble...
« on: October 29, 2016, 08:49:07 PM »
Wrote these lyrics 5-6 years ago, never did anything with them.  Never will.  Anybody that wants to be dumb brave enough to make a song out of them, feel free...

Well I loaded up the truck
Got the boat hooked up
And I'm almost ready to play
I gotta stop and buy the bait
Lord I can hardly wait
Cause I'm a goin' fishin' today

Then she said honey can I join ya
I won't be a bother
I just wanna spend some time with you
Well my hand started itchin'
And my eye started twitchin'
And I couldn't think of what to do

So I said let me tell ya honey
You wouldn’t be a bother
But I can’t take you along
Ya see the boat’s got a leak
And there’s bears in the creek
And putting you in danger is wrong

Well she gave me the look
Cause she knew me like a book
And she could see I’s puttin' her on
So I finally gave in
And said honey you win
Get your pole and come along

Well I stopped and got the beer
And put the cooler in the rear
And we headed out for the lake
But she wouldn’t quit her yappin'
I just watched her lips a flappin'
It was more than any man could take

When we got to the water
I was gettin' hot and bothered
Cause she wouldn’t leave me alone
I couldn’t take it any more
I set my beer on the floor
And I told her she should head back home

And she said Honey what’s wrong
I just thought I’d tag along
Just so I could spend some time with you
Well I finally had enough
I didn’t want to get tough
But I had to tell her what to do

So I said....

Hit the road and go back home
Just leave my butt alone
Why can’t ya just let me be
Ya know you won't stop talkin'
And all I hear is squawkin'
So you can't go fishin' with me

Well the second that I said it
I knew that I’d regret it
As she headed off down the road
I didn’t wanna let her go
But ya know I had to show her
That a man likes fishin' alone

Now fellas let me tell ya
Shoulda thought this out better
Cause I’m thinking I’ll be sleepin' outside
So if your wife ever asks
If you can take her fishin'
Say "of course, my adorable bride"

The rule/s should be if you can put maggots/worms on a hook and take your own fish off the line then you can go fishing  (-!)

Yup.  And if you know when it's time for a serious discussion about home repair or why the kids need new shoes, and when it's time to just fish...  :-*

Mine doesn't.  But then, she doesn't like to fish, either...  8)

That would make a hell of a country song......
