I can relate, Smurf.  Yesterday I made it 10-12 miles at 20mph before I turned around and came back.  Icy ruts pulling the car all over, and twice pulled me onto the center line with semi's coming the other way.  Scary...

I know, right?  I used to climb right in there.  Not anymore.

Two years ago I had to pull the exhaust manifold and some other things just to get to the back 3 plugs on one of the cars just to do a tuneup.

I've got a pile of tools and testers that weren't even thought of 50 years ago.  Aside from basic drive train axle stuff, you have to start with an OBD tester just to know what might be going on.

I've always said I'd love to have a 1965 'anything' in good shape to fix up and drive...

Things have definitely changed a lot from back in the day of simple carburetors and distributors with points, Buster.  I could fix most things on the road with a few tools.  Not any more...

You guys are doing well. The 1st car I owned I took out the engine and gearbox, removed all the parts, had the engine o'hauled, put it all back in, re-timed it and drove it away. The new truck, I can't name a single thing under the hood.

And yeah, garage and pole barn, both full of motorcycles and dirt bikes, mowers, and a ton of other crap.  Been promising myself to clean them out for a long time and give myself a work area...

Same here, Red.  Back in the 70's before I got into computers I was a licensed mechanic, and I still refuse to pay somebody else to do what I can do.  Most of the time...

Only -2 here today, not too cold.  But just finished 3 hours laying on ice doing a front end alignment on one of the cars.  That got cold.  Really need to clean out the garage...

Just came across this the other day.  Anyone ever used this?  Have any tips?

https://hitfilm.com/

They have a free express edition.  I've been wanting to make better edited music videos for awhile, so I'll be sure to follow up if I have any successful.

I have the Pro version of Hitfilm, RK.  I actually have over a dozen video editors that I use and keep updated, but Hitfilm Pro is the strongest by far.  I've been using it since before it was called HitFilm (can't remember the old name right now, too many years ago).

The Express version is supposed to be pretty good, but I've never used that one.  From what I've seen, it should do most anything you'll need or want.  Might be a steep learning curve if you've never done any higher end video editing, but you shouldn't have any trouble.  And tons of tutorials out there for Hitfilm.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it...

I think the tutorials available is main thing that caught my eye.

I want to start making animated lyric videos, like these

apparently it is usually done with adobe products from what I understand.

Also, though I doubt I'll ever have enough time to ever get good with it, I would like to bring some of my imaginative 7 year old daughter's stories to life. Might be something fun to learn together.

I have all of Adobe's editors, too, and they're good, but Hitfilm (Pro) is even better.

You'll get good with it, because once you start playing with it and figuring out how to do the various effects, you won't be able to stop looking for more fun things to do with it.  And every tutorial will entice you to try all those things.

Too bad more people here aren't into video editing, in addition to the ODC we could have a semi-annual video challenge.  That would be very cool...  (-!)

snare on 2 and 4.  the rest is just filler.

unless it's something silly, like prog, then you can do whatever you want. :)

If I start utilizing express regularly and liking it, I'll probably eventually want to buy pro.  That's how Reaper was for me... though I'm pretty sure I still don't use 90% of the features.

Just this, and get my full midi orchestra template setup in Reaper again, and build those last two guitars, and on and on...

Very possible, RK, but I'm pretty sure Express will keep you busy for a while, playing with all the cool stuff and working through all the tutorials.  I expect to see a slick video coming out soon...
