I can relate, Smurf.  Yesterday I made it 10-12 miles at 20mph before I turned around and came back.  Icy ruts pulling the car all over, and twice pulled me onto the center line with semi's coming the other way.  Scary...

Sampson monitors are supposed to be here UPS tomorrow sometime.  I have to go do a network job at a school, so I won't get to try them out till Wednesday.  But I have some mixing to do, so I'll let y'all know how they work...

I know, right?  I used to climb right in there.  Not anymore.

Two years ago I had to pull the exhaust manifold and some other things just to get to the back 3 plugs on one of the cars just to do a tuneup.

I've got a pile of tools and testers that weren't even thought of 50 years ago.  Aside from basic drive train axle stuff, you have to start with an OBD tester just to know what might be going on.

I've always said I'd love to have a 1965 'anything' in good shape to fix up and drive...

Things have definitely changed a lot from back in the day of simple carburetors and distributors with points, Buster.  I could fix most things on the road with a few tools.  Not any more...

You guys are doing well. The 1st car I owned I took out the engine and gearbox, removed all the parts, had the engine o'hauled, put it all back in, re-timed it and drove it away. The new truck, I can't name a single thing under the hood.

Good point, White.  Also what the monitors are setting on can affect the sound (vibration, etc.), as well as things place in front of them...

Just a small point to monitor (pun intended). Check the location you will use the monitors is correct for them. That is to say, against a wall changes the sound, dramatically!

Yeah they are expensive Red, but all the "reviews", both pro and everyday user, like them. I have never heard them myself, but I like the IK Multi stuff that I have.

I am happy with my Fostex PM641, 04's, and 6301's, so I am not looking ATM! :P

And no matter what you read on the net, Behringer

Yup.  The M30's are supposed to be $80, but they just came out a few months ago and they're cheaper right now.  Either way, big difference.  We'll see if they're worth it.  Sometimes good things happen...  :)

Basically, I wanted something a little smaller this time (for space), but still with decent sound.

No idea how good these will sound yet, but a few places I checked seemed to like them.  We'll see.  Right now I just need to mix some stuff...

I actually went cheap this time, Red.  I'm trying out a new set from Samson (M30).  I'll let you know how they do when they get here.

Headed for another TTM anniversary.  The 14th (6 days from today) marks 13 years for TTM.  It's been quite a ride, and all because of the great members here.  Wish we hadn't lost some of the great members we've had here over the years.  Life, I guess...

Well, I did a few minutes work on the main website, just to get rid of some old (OLD) stuff and make it look not quite so abandoned.

Sometime over the next month or two I plan on completely rebuilding it as a 'responsive' site and adding some things...

Joom

January 07, 2018, 12:55:40 AM
And I'm hoping to be able to also update the main site with new stuff, and maybe even the Band Room page if anyone wants to be added.  Any other suggestions for the main area?

Joom

January 07, 2018, 12:53:08 AM
And I see the site has been hacked again, before I even got the last one cleaned up.

I have lots to catch up on, but later in the week (hopefully) in addition to cleaning up the hack I need to update the forums.  2-3 hours downtime...

Whew.  Finally home again.  Always good to see (and sometimes help out) family, but too much time away from home and another 6,000+ miles on the car...

Hi TTM
Happy New Year.
I have been a little absent lately.  No motivation to do music.  Hopefully in 2018 it will come back.
Cheers to you all.
