Well then.  Had to go do some work at a school this evening, and got wrapped up in their Christmas Party.  One of the students was performing.  Acoustic, electric, and slide.  Not a bad player or singer.

They offered food, but I had to work on stuff...

When the site got hacked a couple months or so ago, that was wiped out.  Song files, software, everything.  Now I have to rebuild a facility for that, but I don't have copies of all the archived songs...

as for the archives, I did a fair bit in creating them originally. Did we get them from old Soundclick pages? If I get time, I will see what still exists out there...

I has been a few since I updated this area, so I figure what the hey, lets do it today!  (!:)

Mr. Neil post the classic rock tune Space Truckin by Deep Purple, and I just had to get me grubby little fingers on it. Not that anything was wrong with it, I just wanted to try out some new toys I have sitting around here.

First things first, it was running at 141bpm, 11 bpm faster than the Original! So I took an hour to drop the tempo down to the Original ranges. How ya sung the track that fast is beyond me! :o

1. I play the E-Kit, using a Custom Kit that I programed. Tambourine was from the Free Sounds site.

2. I added a 2nd Rhythm Track and the Lead Break. Both were played on the Bullet Strat thru the Genesis.

3. I did some tweaking to the vocals using stock Reaper stuff, since I have not finished my re-build yet.

4. Mix was in Reaper, Mastering in AAMS.

A HUGE Thank You goes out to Mr. Neil for allowing me to join in on the fun!

Now on to the Toys, and first up is a Digitech Genesis3 modeling Unit.....

I also have a Johnson J-Station.....

....and from what I have read these are the "turbo" version of that (Digitech bought out Johnson many moons ago) I have only had it 1 day, but so far it rocks. This box & the GNX line has a feature called Warp, where you can mix 2 amps & cabs, or just the amp or cab alone. It is more than a Balance control. It actually blends the modeled characteristics (harmonic distortions, EQ circuitry, speaker models, etc) together to form a totally new amp. All I can say is that it is GREAT! Take a Clean Fender tone & a Rectifier, and blend the actual tone & feel of the amps together....I can see a LOT of wasted time with this toy! :P :P

It also has a feature where you can adjust the cabinet resonance & size.... ??? ???...just, wow...... :o

I had my sights on a Digitech GNX4, but after a few months of reading & searching, all info points to this being the exact same guts as that floor unit, but in a desktop format. That plus $40 ship sold me! LOL!

The other "toy" is some updates on the Roland kit.....

I am using the TD4 module as a extra trigger device. Using it in this way allows me to trigger the internal sound from the TD9. I might do a longer write up later, but at this point in time the only add-ons left to get is one more cymbal, a "real" Hi Hat, and the wish list has Mesh Pads for the high toms & a Double Kick Pedal, but those two are not must-haves.

And to close this out, a shot of the new digs, complete with mascots!  :o :P 4 more pieces of room treatment and I will be done....and it's about time! ;D

A HUGE Thank You goes out to Mr. Neil for letting me jump on his work, and to all the TTM Family past and present for just being. Tho I don't comment on a LOT of stuff that is posted, I DO make every effort to give each and every one a listen-to. You folks are talented and I want some of that to rub off on me!  (-!)

Enjoy! 8)

Well, my "experiment" with playing drums again turned into a very suckful outcome. I started having EXTREME pain in my knees & shoulders.. :o..so off to the doc I go..

I had strained my knees & shoulders to the point of almost having sprained them. Now, after the final tests came back, I am lucky...lots of ice & therapy, but no sprain, thank God. If I had sprained my knees I would have been down for a long time according to him. So between that & Mr Author I am officially out of the drumming biz.... :'( :(

So, the kit was sold and other toys purchased, which I will post about later. (hint-I got my toy Spiral, YES!  ;D)

But the bottom line is for me this Thanksgiving is a two-fer....I am Thankful that I did not hurt meself worse, and that I got a great price for the kit.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone that celebrates it!  (-!)  8)

Sorry to hear that, Smurf.  Glad to hear it wasn't a sprain, and that you got a good price for the kit, but really sucks about the knees and shoulders.  I can empathize.

Hope the therapy goes well, and enjoy the new toys...
