New Old Gear day.
« on: March 10, 2013, 02:33:01 PM »
Dropped in at my local pre-loved items emporium (hock shop) and there it was, calling to me like a siren. Some people will call it cheap (it was) and some people will call it nasty (it is)......

                                                    BUT

the neck fits my hand like a glove!!! It's a Casino strat copy made in China (probably by some overworked & underpaid Party members in appalling Third World conditions). All the hardware & pick-ups will go in the bin (where they belong) and I'll keep the neck to replace the one on my No. 2 standard tune guitar.

Before you think I'm hallucinating (I was earlier today), I've got exactly the same neck on No. 1 and all the non-slide guit music I've posted on TTM has been done on that. During all the years I played live, I always wanted a main and a spare guit that felt and played identical. Now it's within my grasp (pun intended). I didn't even have to play it (only had 4 strings), just put my left hand around it and it was love at first grip.

For the gearheads: 3 piece maple neck that has a wide and slim profile, rosewood fingerboard, 43mm (1 11/16") wide at the nut, compound radius neck 10-16" and 22 fret overhang. No matter how the pickguard is cut around the neck pocket, the overhang sits on top of it and so it always looks neat.

Price: $Aus55 (don't worry, I'm gettin' my wife an extra job).

Thanks, Chaiman Mao. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I aint mad at cha! I can't afford to be a git snob! And even if I could afford some nicer instruments I'm of the belief it it feels good and sounds good it must be good to you!
Regardless of the name rank and serial number! I've picked up brand new 1500 gits that don't come close to my $300.00 Shearaton made in Korea!
You have my Blessings!  :P :P :P
