Vocal booth, sort of...
« on: November 09, 2008, 05:10:23 AM »
Check out my voc booth!  ;D

I used that in our (me and leeevvii) latest KAE challenge entry where I shouted quite a bit, and it works pretty well. Enough hard surfaces not to kill the sound dead, but all that soft stuff helps with reflections etc., and most importantly, hopefully bring to volume down a bit to keep my neighbors "happy". I think next time I'll get something heavier on top of it.

I'll have to keep that in mind y'know, Spizza, I think you're onto something....

I've often wondered how I was going to really LOUD vocals and I think you've help me solve it... I have a walk-in robe and this lap-top... should be too much of a struggle to set up for a vocal booth (says he...:D)

Pretty cool idea, Spiral.  And, it's like you're singing to a large crowd of really skinny people...

Yeah, my shows are very popular among super models, I try to capture that in studio as well.

Perfect Spiral!  :) That is what I do here also (I need to get another camera!) but I also use one of those cheap 3 panel Room Dividers with a quilt tossed over it behind the vocalist, and it cuts down room reflections and contains the sound pretty well.

I never thought of placing something over the top tho...great idea! Hmm...maybe some heavy cardboard or a light piece of plywood with some treatment on it.....Thanks for the idea! ;D 8)
Question,
