i have no idea what i just read.  good luck.
i use malwarebytes and the kaspersky rescue disk.  the rescue disk seems to clean up the real bad infections no problemo.  it just takes 2 or more hours usually, and getting it to update definitions is kind of a pain, but absolutely necessary.

my favorite hijack program i saw on a laptop that used the built-in webcam, displays the picture, and says it is going to send your info to the FBI if you don't pay them.

one bit of usefulness on facebook is that there are local groups labeled yard or garage sales where people post pictures of their junk to get rid of.
i acquired another guitar and a decent hard case for $6.  i bought it for the case as i really don't have a need for a First Act guitar from Walmart, but it will give me something to tinker and tear up i guess.
unfortunately, the case doesn't really fit either of the guitars i was going to use it for.  the sg's body is too wide and the orange jazzmaster copy has a old school whammy/trem bar that sticks up too high.  it works for the jazzmaster, but serious screws up the tuning.

oh well, here's a pic, and another of my daughter at the park.  she was throwing grass on the bike tire, spinning it, and saying she was mixing salad.  :)

i don't know what it is, but cable and service providers are the worst.  i only get internet, so the cable company was calling me monthly for about a year trying to get me to add on phone, tv, dvr, etc. blah blah.  there's more than enough free hd entertainment on the antenna and the internet.

bummer, do you have any other internet connected devices/computers?  if so, do you get similar results?  if i read it right, it seems like it happens with just this site, but at random times making me think it's service related, whether it's your provider or something else in the chain that is out of your control.

is this an international issue?  the kilobytes traveling across the boarder get converted to mile-bytes, and then the boarder police strip out all of the "ehs" and "aboots" and replace them with "y'alls" and "yant to's" and adds 1000 calories of fried grease, and stuff just stops working.

that's all that's coming to mind at the moment.  sorry, probably not helpful.

Someone asked me if i had bandwidth in my schedule for a meeting.  As geeky as i am, i still think it is one of the most ridiculous things i have heard.

every time i visited 12 bars i have never had the blues.  ;D

i use ff or chrome depending on the computer.  sometimes i use the default internet browser on my android phone.  i never have a problem.  the initial forum home page load will sometimes take a few more seconds than the rest of session, but that's it.  i sometimes have a dozen tabs open besides ttm and the performance is about the same.

as one that gets paid to work with computer users of all skill levels and varying pc hardware of 1 month to 10 years old, here are a couple of things i've noticed.  some or all may be obvious to you, so i apologize ahead of time if i've wasted your time.

all toolbars imo are stupid and worthless.  even things like google toolbar that appear more legitimate.  i've witnessed a user open internet explorer 8 in windows xp with the google toolbar and it takes 10+ seconds to open the standard google homepage.

a computer will all of its windows updates using internet explorer and less than 4gb of ram will have browser problems.  something in windows updates and service packs consumes more resources than it did several years ago.  unless the website you are using requires internet explorer, a machine with less than 4gb of ram should use chrome or firefox.

disk cleanup and defrag often.  schedule it weekly if possible.  in most cases, after the first time, it takes little time to run if done often.

another thing to look at is what else is your computer doing at the same time you are browsing ttm?  check task manager's performance and processes tabs to investigate.

Very 'purple' and 'deep'. Any Blackmores around?
since i only know the one deep purple song, i will say... "almost?"

hehe.. thanks guys...
nice workin' with ya on this rk ......   8)
"Rock Socks"..... yeah,, that works.  ;D
-Once I'd done the initial feel and tracks, I figured it needed some accompanying aggressive guitar work... and your guitar tracks were just the ticket.
that was a pretty easy and simple session.  i usually have to work harder on songs before i like them.  not sure about calling it aggressive, as i feel it is more relaxed than some other stuff i've been working on with my other band.  it's all about perspective i suppose.

That's pretty cool :)

I just LOVE the "egyptian" lick ;)

Nice...right up my alley :D

thanks neil.  my go to scales for leads have always been major and natural minor.  i have recently learned that the harmonic minor scale is a one note different than the natural minor, so i used that one note a lot.  and by 'a lot' i mean like just about every measure.

ahhh i forget to vote.  spiral, you definitely would have been my #1 as usual, but that one was really special.  top notch craziness with the usual excellent production, so you can hear everything perfectly clear.

Well if it is 24bit and 48khz, downsampling it in audacity for use in kristal should be okay.

time... is on my side... yes it... NO IT ISN'T!  i'm sick of having to stay up hours after my bedtime to do musics and stuff.

the thing i'm noticing for me is that more than ever, i need to manage my time better and be more organized.  i thought things would get better in the winter, no yard work, daughter is nearly potty trained and becoming more independent... nope, doesn't matter.  something else always comes up.  i think i just need to lower my expectations and don't try to do too much or think about it all at the same time.  i'm trying to break things into little projects.

does anyone else use evernote?  it's basically a text editor that you can load on all of your devices and sync them.  it is a blessing and a curse.  the portability is great to reference it, but then i'll get a new idea in my head at some random time and i'll type it in my phone.  i keep making longer lists.

Kristal / Re: Help needed with Kristal please!!!
« on: February 21, 2013, 11:48:33 PM »

But when I export my vocal tracks from multitrack app to pc as wav and then import into Kristal they sound like mice singing. It's all speeded up and plays for 30 secs total instead of 2.58min!!

Now, the multitrack app and Kristal are set to sample rate of 44.1khz and but rate of 16.

Now the funny bit. If I import one of these tracks into audacity it comes up 5500(or whatever the low one is) kHz. Now if I change this to 44.1khz, the track plays in audacity at correct speed but there's aload more simbliance (or whatever the term is more "S" sounding like I got a lisp!).

addressing the last part, going from 44.1 to 5 and back to 44.1 is not good.  you're somehow downsampling and upping it back.

i would check your export settings of the multi-track app.  it sounds like you are hearing good quality on your recordings, but it is somehow screwing them up on the export.  did you accidentally set it to 4.41 instead of 44.1?

are you using the same app as you did for our collab?  everything sounded good there.

Going well Smurf.  The little one is into the smurfs so watch out.

Thanks Ags.  Trying to get the catalog posted on bandcamp.  I like the album format and the different file format options.

i played in creative mode once and built a glass structure as high as it would let me.  i can see where it could get addictive...

i guess i'll write a song with all single note riffs... the ever not so popular N.C. (no chord) written across the top of the guitar tab books.

I enjoyed the "tough" challenge though. My collaborator was a dream to work with and the song came together quite naturally between us. Although I probably did his head in with my suggestions for tweaks. Sorry mate.

not the direction i would've gone of course, but it did surprisingly come together fairly easily.  i'd usually hear something i didn't like after i'd send you a mix, but then you'd mention something else.  no problem though.  doesn't matter in the grand scheme, but i disagree with you on the level of those strings.  :P

And thanks for the feedback on our entry. I didn't expect to win as autotune divided opinion.

i'd be curious on others' feedback, but i found the autotune fit the song style and helped immensely with our lack of singing ability.  i can usually put out something i can tolerate, but i just couldn't on this one.  maybe it was the key or i was unable to imitate onetrack's vocal melody or i didn't have enough tracks of guitar noise to mask drown it out.
