Title: Eight colors
Post by: Jahva on July 28, 2013, 09:02:28 AM
I pulled out me crayolas and drew up a few pieces over the past few weeks. Still early stages... like many others may never finish but I like em.
Each in various stages of completion but most of the music is done. There are some performance issues mostly on the lead tracks... but listenable anyways.
And only one acoustic song.  :o
If you have any advice thoughts criticism etc... keep it to yourselves!  :P :P :P :-*

Cool I like them all  :D but the acoustic is the best one but not because I lean that way,but because it has a more refined feel to it melody and rhythm flow just right . Nice work

TY Ags... after a re-listen lots of work to be done.
I like the Acoustic tune as well it is closest to complete right now.

I'm still experimenting with the rhythm of the first one. I've started it last weekend and seemed to come quickly but I've redone the rhythm gits so many times and I can't seem to get em quite right...

So what are you working on these days besides the pool walls?  :-\

I have been in a slump a big one mentally and physically. I would like some me time maybe some man against nature with guitar LOL camping is in order though never done it since I been married so not sure what the other half would say about that LOL

I listened to Spoorks I mean schprocks vocal post the radio head one and some how it lifted me a bit so I have stuff on back order so to say but not feeling it so it be stupid to try and fulfill.

With that said I came up with a very mellow piece a while back and made some inquiries and had an offer so I'll start this week on that and hope it all works out   I'll be using two ttm'r's and maybe a 3rd  the 3rd has not been asked yet and if number 3 reads this .... yes it is you so you might as well chat with me LOL hahaha ..... and pool is nice just landscaping work and shoveling to do now . :)

No slumps Ags... I think it's too easy to fall away from playing. I've done it plenty of times. If you're not careful it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. I mean it. No such thing as a slump. Pick up your guitar and play just like yesterday! :P I think you have to sort of punch your way through it... but that means guitar in hand.... every day. I know not everything I play is good .. so! :P
I just feel I have to keep doing it. It has to be a constant part of you. Anyway... that's how I see it. Time is ticking away and you can't get it back.

Thanks for listening there Frankie...

Spent some time on this one over the weekend and the past few days... redid the kick (it has a better groove about it now imo), I played and recorded a real high-hat also sounds better imo, added the first verse and chorus and added a little tambourine at the second solo bit.
Hope to get it done by the weekend. But I know better....  ::)

I was fortunate enough to get some interest on this song from Schprocket...  :D
I wanted a second voice on it to hit notes I just couldn't reach without sounding like a cat getting his tail stepped on.
So he stepped in it errr stepped in and gave me some tracks to work with. And some really valuable input.
I'm not use to having so many vocals track to work with or mix so it was a real B'tch but I think I got it now.
Oh and the wife helped me out on a few as well.
Thanks dear and Carrie.  :P

So give a listen give your thoughts and we'll leave a light on for you!  :o

Very nice, guys, great song.  Fun, bouncy, just an enjoyable listen.  You two do quite well together...

What I liked about Be Yourself when I first heard it was that, to my limited musical vocabulary, it had the lyrical feel of John Lennon on a good day, combined with a McCartneyesque Americana style: a cross between "I've Just Seen A Face" and - believe it or not - "Mull of Kintyre".

The only difference is not only does everyone wants to sing along but get up and dance as well.... I even got as far as imagining the music video for this one. :) LOL!
Title: Re: Eight colors

It would make a good music video.  Will you two be singing and dancing in it?

Hell yeah!.... and if it were to happen, you don't think it wouldn't involve all of TTM in the closing shot? :)

That would be cool.  The rest of us could be sitting at a table watching you and Jahva dance while we applaud and throw money and women's undergarments at you...
Title: Re: Eight colors

Hey... it was a fun song... I like it and Schprock likes it! It don't need no dancing pairs with flying underwears and such!  ???  :o  :P

You want a dance song I've got a new tune... you can dance all you want to this! It's just a skeleton but you can shake your maker to it! Very rough cut...
Steve I've got some spots for you on this. I'll let you know once I get a decent recording done.

They're coming along... should have something for you to hear in a couple of days. The song is about Sex Drugs and Rock & Roll... I know I know. Where do I come up with this chit!   ???  ::)  :P
Title: Re: Eight colors

This song is turning out to be more work than I thought it'd be...  :-\  but it's coming along. Should have it ready over the weekend Schprock. Simple little rock-n-roll song he says to himself... simple my arse. I actually had to learn this frickin thing and come up with a decent bass line.  ???
Here's a new mix with all parts in place I think... well as of today. Not bad for the time into it though still has some performance issues but I'll get em done.
R&R... wtf?

That's a really fun tune, Jahva. Love it.  ;D

It reminded me of something Danny Gatton might play. Which, of course, is no bad thing!!  ;)

Now, ya just gotta drop some harmonics, multiple string bends and crazy/impossible licks in there and ya cracked it!  :o

White... Danny got the box of 64 colors I only got 8.

Didn't know much about him while he was alive but over the years I learned of him was blown away at his style.
Probably the most under-rated unknown player of all time. Outside of some circles and git players most have never heard of him. Shame... another R&R suicide.  :(

Carl Perkins and a little Merseybeat... then Clapton makes a brief appearance... I did say my exposure is somewhat limited...

This of course means that I'm hanging out for this one... :)

Well... I ran out of polish on this one so I put some lipstick and a wig on her.  :o
Steve helped me out again with some sweat and probably tears but he got through it.
Thanks Bro!
Suppose to be an older feel kind of tune... calling it "Where you from" as in your roots where do you come from.
As a kid growing up we had music in the house all the time usually some Motown sounds The Beatles or Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Frankie etc... but I remember vinyl and the needle and crackling coming through the speakers and then... music. Still what a joy to this day.
Anyway I wanted to capture some early days not always good... sometimes scary... but true and the things that bring you "The Blues". Just never gets old to me.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15367559/Where%20you%20from.mp3

Where you from

Ever since i was a little one
The sound of music got me to the bone
I had some records and a phonograph
And I'd play that music in my room and let it blast

Everyday I couldn't wait to get home
The teacher couldn't teach the things I wanted to know
But I was learning from that old vinyl
Bout the Motown Rhythms and that Rock n Roll

And I'd dream all through the night
thinking about being a star
Got my Chuck Berry pose
doing the Duck Walk
on my knee's playing guitar

Now now now where do you come from
Said Now now now
hey little girl if you feel a little down come and get you some

Sally said she got some new albums
Badfinger and The Rolling Stones
So I went over and we wore them out
Yeah we played that music till the sun came up

But then I heard a little knock on the door
Her father walked in found us lying on the floor
I stood up but he knocked me back down
then he left the room shouting where'd I leave that gun

So I scrambled round the room running for the door
Fearing for my life
I headed down the alley
turned around to see
double barrel pointing right back at me

Now now now where did he come from
Said Now now now
hey little girl if you feel a little wrong don't let him bring you down

Now all that drama made me want to see a friend
The record store was right around the bend
The clerk said man what happen to you
I said I'll tell you man but you've got to play me some Blues
Yeah play me some Blues
play me some Blues
Yeah play me some Blues
play me some Blues

All kidding aside, a fun tune. Next time, mate I'll aim for something tighter  ;D

Ha!
Steve you did fine! The song is missing something and I can't quite figure it out.  Usually just want to get it done and move on to the next.
I think it's part performance though... took me a few days to get a groove on the chords. Never seem to be able to play it twice the same way. So every take felt a little different. And I kept thinking horns should be blowing through parts but I couldn't get a decent sound on my Yamahoooo keyboard.
Ehhh no sweat... it's just adult refrigerator art.  :P

We aim... We shoot.... we hit the target! Maybe not a Bullseye but a decent effort and shot :D
Thanks again man!
On to "Wasted".... well that was the name of the song when I recorded it. Will be called "What do you know" when finished.
